I am a volunteer with the Larimer County Toys for Tots program, and I help them out by dressing up as a Cosplay Ghostbuster and I take my cosplay prop Olaf Ghostbuster with me when I help out at Toys for Tots.
I believe that the Toys for Tots program is a important charity so I help out when ever I can, this will be my 3rd year in helping them. I help out by volunteering at their Toys for Tots table during the holiday season. I help answer questions, and help them out by collecting donated toys at their table.
Toys for Tots licks off in about early November and runs thru a great part of December.
Many times kids are scared of ghosts or giant inflatables, but everyone loves Olaf.
So I made up this prop in mind of it being kid friendly. I had no idea that my prop was gotta be a big hit with both and kids and adult alike.
By dressing up as a cosplay Ghostbuster I help draw attention to the Toys for Tots table and I get to socialize with everyone to help out a great cause. I get to meet great peeps of all ages.
Plus kids and even adults of all ages will pose for a selfie with Olaf and me, after they have donated to the Toys for Tots.
Last year, I met a little girl who's Dad told me that she had saved up her whole allowance all Summer long, so she could donate it to the Toys for Tots. The meaning of "every child deserves a toy for Christmas" was very powerful for that little girl. At the age of 5 or 6 yrs old, she knew that even she could help others, so she did.
I strongly believe in helping out our own community is what makes it stronger and a better one.
See you out there.
